Key Fob Project
Wednesday, May 22nd, 2013
What is a Key Fob??? Basically, a key fob is a fancy way to say key chain.
Purpose:
Great introduction to the lab and lab tools
Gets students thinking about plastic.
Great introduction to the design process.
Most importantly- IT'S FUN!
Procedure:
Take a blank piece of Plexiglas and trace out shapes
Come up with several designs
Narrow down the designs to the best two
Select the color of Plexiglas you would like
Lab Procedure:
Use files to shape and round corners
Use coping saws to cut curves
Hand drill holes for design purposes and for the key-chain
Engrave your design
Heat the plastic in the toaster oven and shape to desired form
