JGBMS Home and Career Skills students, along with Mrs. Hughes, Ms. Walley, and Mrs. Kosteczko visited the Walden Humane Society on March 9, 2011. The group dropped off donations collected by the students and staff which consisted of food, treats, cleaning supplies, toys, and bedding for the many dogs and cats in need. The sewing club made handmade dog bones and mice with catnip in them to present to the animals at the shelter. A tour of the shelter helped introduce various career opportunities and the value of public service. Home and Career Skills, a middle level course in Family and Science, prepares students to meet their present and future responsibilities as family and community members.
Thank you note!
I would like to thank all the children that donated the stuff for the animals! We were in desperate need of donations they have been few and far between with the economy the way it is. We are having a $39.00 adoption fee for all cats we are doing that because we have been in business for 39 years. Again we thank the children and teachers for what they do for the animals.
It's a great feeling to help make a difference in the lives of animals!
The sewing club made home made done bones and mice with catnip for the animals. As you can see the dog is enjoying playinging with it. Great job sewing club students!
The cat enjoyed playing with the sewing club's hand made mice with catnip!
