Invader species cause big trouble! But many people don’t know much about them.

Project: Research at least 3 different types of invading species and create a news report that documents the causes and effects of each species on the environment it invaded.

Procedure

1. Research types of invader species.

You may use examples from Workshop 7 or from the following government website http://www.invasivespeciesinfo.gov/ 

2. Take notes and save photos.

Scan the headings of the texts you found. Look for the three most important ideas about each invader species.

•Where does the species come from?

•Where did it move to?

• How is it affecting the new environment?

  Write the answers the questions on separate note cards.

HINT!! Color coordinate your note cards to help you stay organized!!!

3. Write a draft.

Using your note cards, type three separate articles that present the information about the different invader species.

4. Present your work .

Create a short news report using Photostory that includes pictures that have captions and audio documenting the causes and effects of each invasive species.
