INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAKING YOUR STRING PUPPET
1) Take your puppet pattern and cut out the head and body in one piece, then cut out the legs and arms.
2) Using a pen, make holes where each of the circles and X’s appear throughout the body, arms, and legs.
3) Take a wooden stick and tape it to the back of the puppet’s body so that the top of the stick is in the middle of the puppet’s chest.
4) Assemble the arms and legs by taking one of your two 10 inch pieces of string and put the end through the X marked in front side of the right arm, tie the end around and knot it in the back side of the paper. Take the other end of the same string and put it through the X in the left arm. Tie the end around and knot it. DON’T TIE THE ARMS TOO CLOSE TOGETHER. Take the remaining 10 inch piece of string and connect the legs together in the same way as the arms. DON’T TIE THE LEGS TOO CLOSE TOGETHER.
5) Take the brass fasteners and push them through holes on front side of skeleton’s body and connect the arms and legs to the back of the puppet (use round the round holes). TURN FASTENERS SEVERAL TIMES SO THAT THE ARMS AND LEGS SWING EASILY. CLOSE FASTENERS LOOSELY.
6) Take the remaining long string and tie one end to the MIDDLE of the string connecting the arms together. Take the other end of the same string and tie it to the middle of the string connecting the legs together.
7) Hold the puppet up and pull down on the loop that you just made by connecting the arms and legs together. YOUR SKELETON CAN NOW JUMP FOR JOY!
