Prepare students for high school Spanish! This introductory Spanish course, created for middle school students, blends fun learning techniques together with an effective language study. Adventure-themed lessons course for grades 7-8 teach students how to speak and write Spanish in a variety of situations before completing their mission. Comprehensive and step by step, this world language elective includes language resources, memory aids, songs, and cultural insights. Lessons cover topics such as vocabulary, pronunciation, parts of speech, sentence patterns, and more. Verb tense, pronouns, locations, plurals, conjugations, and listening comprehension are all studied. Course units contain quizzes and tests to evaluate progress and student mastery.
Spanish 1 is a two year program completed in one year. Students continue their learning where they left off in Intro to Spanish. We reach the preterite tense to be able to speak about activities that have a definite beginning and end in the past. Course units contain quizzes and tests to evaluate progress and student mastery.
Students will conduct a project on a Spanish speaking country that will be presented to the teacher and peers in class.
At the end of the year students will take a Proficiency Exam on which they have to score 65 or higher to move on to Spanish 2 in the High School.
