• Homework, on blackboard with apple to right

****Each night read, check over, and sign your initials on your child's hw planner. I will be checking the planners in the mornings for your initials the first few weeks of school. Beyond that time it is your responsibility to remember.

***Please make sure your child empties his/her Go Home Folder and that they bring it back to school the next day.Tests and quizzes brought home with a grade below 70% need to be signed and returned to school. Corrections can be made to earn extra credit.

      * Your child will have reading homework each night. They are required to read at least 20 minutes and then complete their reading log which must be returned the last school day for the week. Please help them read their writing prompts and assist them in forming paragraphs.

    * Math hw will be assigned Monday - Thursday. Please assist your child with the facts and word problems in their HW Journal. This should take from 5-15 minutes to complete. For each word problem I expect the kids to READ(read carefully) , DRAW (a picture) and WRITE (a sentence that answers the question)

    * Your child will recieve 15 spelling words based on rules and phonetic patterns. They will also be responsible for 2-3 homophone words. There is no formal speling homework, however students must be prepared for their test on Friday. Practicing the words in a game or review format should take only 5-15 minutes.

    * Occasionally your child may receive a science or social studies homework/project that will require family assistance. Your support is greatly appreciated.

****Your child can do extra credit to help bring up their grades. Correcting tests is one form of extra credit. Another idea is to do a project of your choice about the topic we are learning about. (poster, diorama, research...) All projects must have a visual presentation (something to look at) in addition to a written/typed presentation (something to read).
