Applications were made available for the Universal Prekindergarten (UPK) lottery on March 20, 2026. The District held a random lottery to determine enrollment in the UPK program on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. Access to the lottery was livestreamed on the Wallkill Central School District website. (Click link below to watch the livestream) All families have been notified of their child’s status. Any student not selected in the lottery for a seat was placed on a waiting list.

The following is required to be eligible for UPK:
· You must be a resident of the Wallkill Central School District
· Your child must be four (4) years old on/before December 1, 2026
· You must complete and return the registration packet to the Wallkill Central School District Office for Educational Services by Friday, July 31, 2026, by 3:00 p.m.
There will be three (3) sections of in-house (UPK) with a maximum class size of eighteen (18) students per section. There will be additional slots available with an outside agency, as well. The Community Based Organizations(CBOs) that partner with the district are Building Blocks Childcare Center and School Time (at the Most Precious Blood School in Walden NY). Currently, we have eleven (11) slots at Building Blocks. There are an additional seventy-two (72) slots at School Time.
Please Note: District transportation WILL NOT be provided for the UPK program.
