 School Social Worker Role
 
Our goals as Social Workers within the school setting are to strengthen the social/emotional well-being of all students in order to enhance academic and personal goals. 
 
Our responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
  • Assessments
  • Counseling
  • Conflict mediation and resiliency building
  • Alternatives to violence and gangs (Secondary Level)
  • Attendance Monitoring
  • Community referral and liason work
  • Child abuse reporting
  • School dropout (Secondary level)
  • Transition Planning 
  • Youth suicide prevention and intervention
  • Crisis intervention
  • Child and family advocacy
  • Collaboration with school personnel
  • Substance Abuse Referrals
  • Members of the RTI (Response to Intervention) Team
  • Members of the PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports) Team
  • Members of the CSE (Committee on Special Education)
