About Our District
Why a Tree?
After years of using a map of New York State in most district publications, conversations led us to consider a symbol change to accompany new directions and endeavors. A tree was chosen, and upon reflection, it became an apt metaphor for our educational community.
John G. Borden was one of the early proponents of our schools. The road leading to his historical estate is lined with beautiful, hundred year old sugar maples. We live in a valley renowned for its fruit orchards. Each autumn we host a gorgeous array of deciduous color, perhaps reflecting the varied personalities of our neighborhoods.
Our business involves the nurturing of young saplings to become sturdy, independent adults. With proper care, these charges will go on to provide a wealth of benefits in support of us all, and regardless of where the winds may carry their yields, their roots will remain in Wallkill.
