JGBMS Guidance

John G. Borden Middle School
Guidance Department

What Does Guidance Do?

Guidance services are available to help each student get the most out of middle school.  All students are encouraged to come to the guidance office and talk with the counselors regarding any concerns they might have. Counselors help students with educational program planning, study habits, personal and home concerns, health problems, social concerns, career plans, and decision making.  Students should feel free to discuss their interests, plans, and difficulties with the counselors.

What's New?

  • Quarter 1 ended on Friday, November 8. Report cards will be mailed home the weekend of November 15.
  • Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on Tuesday, November 26 with signups starting on Tuesday, November 12. More information is available HERE.

Schoology & Parent Portal

Teachers will contact students primarily through Schoology. This is an online, virtual learning environment that our students have been utilizing thoughout the school year.

Team Meetings

Counselors meet with core teachers daily for a team meeting. During this time teachers discuss student needs and solutions for student success. The time is also used to meet with students for extra help. Parents are invited to join a team meeting in person, via phone or Zoom to discuss their child - please call us to make an appointment at (845) 895-7179!
