Finale Note Pad

Finale Note Pad is a program that has been used by students in music theory class to write down their compositions. It is available in a free, download format from this site. There is also an upgrade available for a fee, but the free program has just about everything a young composer would need to write and play back their music.

Music Theory.Net

This page has great practice exercises for ear training, intervals, and all things theory-related. It also keeps track of your score, so you can play against your friendsĀ and has printable music paper in different formats (single staff, grand staff, etc.)
NAME (National Association for Music Education)
The National governing body of Music Education in the United States. Contains contest information, calls for student compositions, links to congressional representatives to lobby for improved music education in schools.

New York City Opera

Contains the City Opera schedule, ticket information, learning center, e-shopping, etc.

NYSSMA

NYSSMA web site contains information that is mostly pertinent to music educators, but may be of interest to those who are considering a career in music education.

OCMEA

The Orange County Music Educators website provides links to other local school district music departments, performance opportunities, and concert schedules.

Practice Sight Reading

Through this website, you can create rhythm exercises to practice. For a membership fee, you can also create sight reading exercises. The rhythm exercise generator is a free service.

Summer Camps

A New York Summer Camp Directory that includes descriptions, contact information and active email & web site links for hundreds of academic, sports, and arts summer programs for kids held on New York State college campuses. Search by activity, college, or location. Updated annually.

The Metropolitan Opera

Contains the Met schedule, broadcast schedule, ticket information, stories of the operas, a Met quiz, special events, gift shop links, etc.

Thirteen (PBS)

Channel Thirteen's home page includes broadcast scheduling, membership information, kids activities, and links to many outstanding music sites.

UCMEA

This is the Ulster County Music Educators Association website. It contains information about the All-County Festivals and links to other school districts in our county.
